There’s a way to help your student stand out in college admissions without burning them out.
Instead of adding to the overwhelm of the process, let’s give your student the support they need to build a strong application and actually feel good along the way.
You thought college applications would be a BIG, exciting milestone to share with your teen. Not a process that takes over your entire lives.
But somewhere between the deadlines, the pressure, and the anxious 11:00 PM Google searches, it starts to feel overwhelming for all of you.
After all, you want your student to succeed. But once you’re in it, “success” can quickly start to feel like just doing more. More activities, more pressure, more trying to keep up with what everyone else is doing to stand out.
Meanwhile, you’re sorting through advice from every direction, trying to figure out what actually matters and what doesn’t, and hoping you’re not missing something important along the way. It’s probably been years since you went through this process (or maybe it's your first time), and it’s hard to tell whether your student is on the right track or stretching themselves too thin just to keep up.
It’s a lot. And for many families, it leads to a student who’s burnt out, unable to actually enjoy their high school experience, and an application that doesn’t fully reflect who they are or what they’re capable of.
If that’s not what you want for your student, you’re not alone. Instead of more noise, there’s a more focused, supportive way to approach this—one that helps them build a strong application and stay true to themselves.
Welcome to Pep + Prep College Consulting. I can’t wait to meet you.
Here’s what parents & students are saying (and what a partnership could look like):
“What could have been a stressful and overwhelming experience became enjoyable and rewarding instead.”
“Katie’s meetings with my son were organized, specific, and task-oriented, a perfect combination for a multi-sport athlete heading into his ambitious academic and athletic senior year.”
“My teen said he didn’t need a college admissions consultant and that we should buy him a car instead, but he quickly realized that having you was a much better investment than a car!”

Ready for a guided path through college admissions?
High school can feel overwhelming even before the pressure of college applications is added. But with the right support, it doesn’t have to be. My grade-level packages give students a clear roadmap, whether they’re just starting out or already in the middle of their journey.
Each year has a focus, a set of goals, and actionable steps to help students grow with confidence, avoid burnout, and leave high school ready for the next chapter.
If your student is a sophomore or junior, don’t worry—they’re not behind. With the right plan, we can get them moving in the right direction (maybe at a faster pace), so they still finish strong and prepared for college.
-
Freshman year is all about discovery. Students are figuring out what excites them, how they work best, and laying the groundwork for the rest of high school.
-
In their sophomore year, we want students to begin narrowing their focus, go deeper into activities that matter to them, and build the traction they’ll need for junior and senior year.
-
Junior year is where the pieces we’ve been working on start to come together. Rather than exploring, students focus more on where they stand and where they want to go, which helps them make thoughtful decisions that highlight their strengths in their applications.
-
Senior year is about executing all of our plans and strategies with confidence. Everything from essays, applications, and extracurricular activities has been built with intention and is ready to show the student’s full story.
Hi, I’m Katie!
I’ve worked on both sides of the college admissions process—as a high school counselor and an admissions reader—so I know what colleges are looking for and what students really need in high school to get there.
And every year, I see the same things happen to families. They’re pulled in a hundred different directions trying to “get it right,” overloaded with noise and opinions, and all of it turns what should be an exciting time into something overwhelming.
Trust me when I say, that’s not how this has to go.
My role is to take the mental load off your family and refocus you on what really matters. Instead of overloading your teen’s schedule or guessing your way through this process, I’ll help them make intentional choices about extracurricular activities & majors, write essays that speak to what makes them unique, and gain some independence along the way. That way, they can still enjoy their high school experience (and this milestone as a whole) while they build a strong college application.
I’m here to help students stay on track during the college application process so families can actually enjoy this time together.
Real experiences from families like yours:
“I can confidently say she is among the best college consultants available.
What sets Katie apart is her ability to work effectively with both students and parents. She established a wonderful rapport with my teen, earning their trust and respect while encouraging independence. At the same time, she kept us parents informed and involved without letting our anxiety affect the process. This delicate balancing act showcases her experience working with families during this pivotal transition.”
— Alisa B.
“The whole process is very different from what it was when we went through it years ago. Having Katie was the peace of mind we needed!
We have twins and my husband and I felt pulled in different directions to help each kid. Katie was able to step in and greatly simplify the process, walking us through each step and answering every question we had. She was available when we needed her and provided invaluable feedback on everything from essays to what to do next when something didn’t work out the way we had hoped.”
— Aaron C.
