FAQs

  • When I was a school counselor, I worked with a caseload of 450+ students at a time. Now, as an independent educational consultant, I intentionally keep my roster much smaller (about 20 students per grade level each year) so I can work closely with each student and family.

My previous experience taught me how to manage a high volume of needs, but this model allows me to give students the personalized guidance and attention they deserve during this process.

  • I run a solo practice, which means you’ll be working directly with me throughout the entire process. However, I’m definitely not doing this in isolation—I’m part of professional organizations and regularly collaborate with other college admissions consultants, so I’m always learning and staying current (all the better for you, right?).

Think of it as one-on-one support that’s backed by a strong professional network.

  • Yes! Honestly, this is often the greatest sense of relief for families. My role is to guide the entire process, from timeline development and micro-decisions about each application’s strategy to execution (AKA, making sure everything is done, on time, so your student isn’t panic-hitting the submit button at 11:58 PM the day an application is due).

  • I support teens in their overall development, and extracurricular activities are just one piece of the puzzle. We look at where a student is right now and what makes sense for them to build on next, whether that’s skills, consistency, or deeper involvement in their high school and local community. It’s less about stacking activities to “look impressive” on a resume or application, and more about choosing the right experiences that align with their interests and future goals.

  • Ooh—this is a BIG part of the work we’ll do together. For a student applying to around 10 schools, there can easily be 20+ essays to write. To make it more digestible, we break it down into a really simple process: brainstorming, drafting, revising, and polishing.

Our goal is to help your student write essays that truly reflect who they are and why they’re a strong fit for each school. Trust me when I say that essays you can copy and paste into multiple applications won’t do the trick—we want real, thoughtful responses that are specific to each college on their list.

  • This is always the big question. Most of my students attend four-year colleges, but the range definitely varies. I’ve worked with students who’ve gone to highly selective schools and others who’ve chosen colleges with higher acceptance rates and strong, specific programs.

Ultimately, my focus isn’t on a single type of school. It’s on what makes the most sense for your student. I don’t pre-screen for “top” applicants because I believe all students have the ability to attend college and should be supported in their pursuit of finding their best fit. I work with students as they are, and help them build a college list that reflects their strengths, goals, and best next steps.
